In some cultures, it is completely normal and understood that Atheism is the state in which all humans are born. Some people are open to experience and new ideas. Better yet, some people are simply more understanding of the natural world. Unfortunately in the Midwest, where I am from, Atheism is not only considered a sin worse than murder, it is misunderstood on many different levels. Growing up in what is labeled by Americans as "The Bible Belt" there is not too much room for diversity, freedom of personal thought, difference in opinion, and especially the occasional questioning of authority. Of course, to hear it from them, they are open, honest, forgiving, loving, and everything else their preachers tell them to be. But trust me, this is not the case with the majority of the people who live in small Christian communities. No child should have to go through what I went through as a child who grew up in Farmington, Missouri amongst the rigid belief systems of those who were supposed to be kind and forgiving.

Last week seems to have upset quite a few people in this country. Between the debate going on over the Confederate flag to the SCOTUS rulings on the ACA and Gay Marriage, quite a few of my Christian friends have become very vocal in the last week. Facebook has virtually exploded with meme's either praising, or damning, everything that's going on.
Puerto Rico has become the Caribbean extension of the Bible Belt. Interestingly, the main importers of US-styled fundamentalist Christianity have been local politicians, not missionaries from the US. The politicians are tightening the belt quickly, shamelessly violating the separation of church and state.
Many people seem to have a common goal of wanting to understand the Founders, their thoughts and words as a means of establishing the original intent of the Constitution. For instance there have been countless discussions about the exact meaning of "a well-regulated militia", of the "origin of our rights", etc.

I attended the Houston "Gay Pride Day" festival for the first time yesterday. I was there with a purpose. I am a Deputy Voter Registrar and I was attempting to register new voters.

- There was a Crucifixion on Calvary.
- Joan perished on a pyre.
- For attempted regicide, you are drawn and quartered.
- Failure to produce a male heir? Lose your head.
- Apologize for correctly interpreting celestial movement, or suffer worse than death.
This is not just a recitation of inhumane death by torture, dating back two millennia. These abominable acts – and worse – occurred just this year, right under our 21st century noses! They are all connected to the introduction of the unitary god into the human mix. Actually, they began at the intersection, or morphing of a belief in one god and the extension of that belief into the same god, now presented as a triad of three entities. At any rate, despite the stated purpose of this transformation to be peace-oriented, that noble objective has not as yet been achieved. This Judeo-Christian mélange introduced 2,000 years of a bloodfest that immediately would send scurrying back into their own locus in the multiverse any Excellent Adventurous visitors who might have happened upon our unceasing slaughter-in!
Whether or not you celebrate Easter, we at Idiot Free Zone llc wish you peace and humor!
