At this year’s Women’s March I started from the end. By that I mean, I stood on the steps of the Capitol and awaited the arrival of the Marchers. I talked with the folks setting up tables and collected information and anecdotes from them. As we watched the crowd come up and fill the street in front of us, my heart was full (in Sacramento our March was larger than last year’s 20K. It swelled to 36K). I leaned over to my 12 year old grandson and whispered, “One day you will tell your grandchild, ‘I was there. My mom and grandmother brought me and I saw the crowd of women standing up for themselves.’ And you will understand.”

Guess what? By stopping the machinery of government at will, Congress has us in its thrall. That is not the way it is supposed to be. We chose them to be OUR paradoxically well paid thralls. Speaking of “pay,” their personal disbursements are the only ones unaffected by their arbitrary whim to gum up the works. Why is that? Because that also resulted from their whim. There appears to be a whimsical pattern emerging here – a consistency that becomes less and less whimsical, and more and more threatening to our wellbeing.

My thoughts on the matter of the Russian cyber-attacks are not formed in a vacuum. I do have quite a lot of experience in network security. When I first learned of the Russian intrusion - hacking of the DNC email servers - in July of 2016, I was particularly upset that the Obama Administration wasn’t taking more forceful action; wasn’t informing the electorate of the meddling. I was also upset by the Republican leaders who deliberately dismissed the evidentiary allegation that Putin wanted Trump to win and that there were members of the Trump Campaign with ties to the Russian government who were acting, knowingly or unknowingly, as Russian operatives.

Hello, Mr. Trumpster,
Your feelings are bare.
They come from the dumpster;
You don’t really care.
You’re his’try reveals you;
Your ugly thoughts stain.
They’re not red, white and blue;
They infect your brain.

A lot has transpired (yes, I know I’ve used this line before) since Dec. 28, 2017 when I wrote “Orange Is The New Whack II” in which I said, “… not a day has gone by without one lie or another (often multiple lies per day) coming out of the Orange Whack’s mouth. These are not just harmless falsehoods; they are delusional, democracy-eroding statements that may very well herald the collapse of our democratic republic.” Today is Jan. 9, 2018. The New Year is less than two weeks old and the Orange Whack’s volatility and the question of his fitness for office is, at long last, being publicly scrutinized and has become the leading topic of discussion on all major news outlets.

Two raving maniacs,
Both armed with nukes --
Don’t call them “brainiacs;”
Stick to the truth.
How did it come to this –
In the whole world,
Two idiots full of piss,
Vinegar swirled,

A lot has transpired since I wrote the first “Orange is the New Whack” in which I said, “Though I find his illeism (talking about himself in the third person) annoying, it is Trump’s erratic behavior and tyrannical disposition that bothers me. His denial of facts, embrace of conspiracy theories, attention-seeking rallies, vindictive/vengeful rants and intolerance of anyone who does not share his views, are what make me think he’s psychologically impaired (whack).” At the end of my article, I cited a piece by Steve Reisner, and acknowledged that I could be mistaken – Trump’s not whack; he’s evil.

Everyone can see that the 45th President of the United States of America has a strange orange hue to his thin skin. And, during the 2016 campaign, in an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, President Obama even made a spot on jibe about it. With a play on words referencing a popular Netflix Original Series, the 44th President of the United States of America quipped, “Orange Is Not the New Black”.
Since Donald J Trump was installed in the Whitehouse by the Electoral College following Barack Obama’s presidency; it has become increasingly apparent (in disturbing ways) that “Orange is Not the New Black”. It is clear to me – and many mental health professionals - that “Orange is the New Whack”!

Doña Felisa Rincón de Gautier (Doña Fela, for short), was the first woman mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and by extension the first woman mayor of a capital city in the Americas. Doña Fela was Old World-gracious, but as tough as nails. She never would have backed down on a face to-face with Donald Trump, as did the current woman Mayor of San Juan.
