Following are the cover notes for, “Songs – Dodson – Long,” a CD album of original songs by Tommy Dodson and Curtis W. Long, under the rubric of Musical SoCal.com.
This album consists of a portion of the collection of musical works by Tommy Dodson and Curtis W. Long which were compiled over a period of 20 years. Tommy not only is the vocalist heard throughout these selections; he also composed most of the music, did all of the arrangements and provided the instrumentation. Curtis wrote all of the lyrics, and just a couple of the melodies. None of these recordings would have been possible without the dedication of talented sound engineer and video technician Richard Taylor.

Auguste Reading to Her Daughter, Mary Cassatt - 1910, public domain
Bibliophile: noun 1. a person who loves or collects books, especially as examples of fine or unusual printing, binding, or the like. That would be a pretty good definition of myself and most of my friends and I would expand the definition a little further and say, I just like owning books and having my book shelves filled with them. My family has threatened me with intervention on more than one occasion, not seriously, but they do tease me on occasion. Before you judge me, my home does not look like this, just so we're clear. I have them neatly organized by subject. Ok, yes, I do have some books in every room except the kitchen but they are tidy and neat and the majority are in our study. I thought I would write on behalf of my fellow bibliophiles so that their families can try to understand this desire, need, obsession with keeping the books we read.

" 'TWAS THE FRIDAY BEFORE X-MAS "
(based on a true story. I think...)
'Twas the Friday before X-Mas, and stuck in my brain.
Was my plan to kill Santa, with a gun or by train.
The list of my options I hung up with care,
My vengeance was real and soon would be clear.

SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES: Feed Me Dammit
When my son is hungry, he will eat the fastest most convenient thing he can find. He will not wait for a piece of toast if he can eat the bread now. Butter? Jelly? Who needs it. He would just as soon eat at Whataburger as Brennan’s. Ordinary American food has always had its place in the movies. Harold and Kumar do eventually find the White Castle, Jake and Elwood order their fried chickens and dry white toast and many of us recall the beans in Blazing Saddles.

After years of failed attempts I was finally able to make a trip to the Salsa ‘Mecca’ of the Midwest: The Chicago International Salsa Congress! I have been told for a long time ‘Michal, you got to attend that Congress!’ and I must say it felt really good to go to it back in February. For fifteen years the Salsa community in the greater Chicago area has hosted this Congress.
