Eight banker's boxes in the garage contained over three thousand photos. Some of these pictures were ripped from the pages of scrap-books with glue and remnants of black pages stuck to the back, so the images on the front were slowly disappearing. These were pre-digital, mostly pre-phone camera photos from the early 20th century to yesterday. Eras and persons, covering five generations of German-Irish Weslings and Ukrainian-Norwegian Dulinawkas, were entirely scrambled.

Even before it was reported that a former Trump wife had accused him of rape, The Donald opened his presidential campaign by accusing immigrants from below the border, in large part, of being rapists. That was then; the now-"sensitive" Trump, in an interview, could not bring himself even to utter the title, "Operation Wetback" – right after touting that Eisenhower, Mexican roundup as his ideal!

The bloodletting suffered by France this year is horrendous and inhumane. The perpetrators should meet full judgment for their heinous acts.
France, just as other great European colonial powers and the United States, is finding that it cannot escape its history:
I am Crispus Attucks, an escaped slave, the first casualty of the American Revolution, killed in the "Boston Massacre," March 5, 1770.
I am a Francis Salvador, the firt Jew to hold elected office in the Americas and the frist to die in the Ameican Revolution

A genius, a man of and ahead of his time, a great explorer and navigator, the first Conquistador, a murderer, a slaver and a genocidal maniac. Each and every one of those is easily verifiable through the historical record, much in his very own handwriting, as he kept very precise journals.

Yes, there were other issues that helped exacerbate the American Civil war. Yes, most white southerners were not slave holders. Yes, the war aims of Abraham Lincoln were based (originally) on keeping the American union together, not abolition. Yes, the northern trade unions feared the glut of labor that emancipation would bring. Yes, as with all wars and especially civil wars, it was complicated and people (on both sides) had their own reasons for believing that civil war was necessary, but there is no doubt caused by anything in the historical record that contradicts the fact that the PRINCIPLE issue was SLAVERY. The economics were between industry and agriculture as they say, but they leave out that the agriculture was wholly dependent on slave labor. The State's right issue was something that few people at the time thought much about except for ONE issue – slavery. Slavery was the one and only "right" that was in true contention. A quick comparison between the U.S. Constitution and that of the Confederate States of America will quickly confirm.
