Taina's life revolves around three things: punk rock,
fitness and journalism.
She is considered one of the female pioneers of Puerto
Rico's punk rock scene. Not only was she the first female to sing in a
band, she was also the first woman to ever publish a 'zine and tour
internationally. Naturally, she is frequently approached for interviews on
the history of Puerto Rico's punk scene and has been featured in several
scholarly papers, radio programs and documentaries on the subject.
Taina has also been an avid fitness
devotee since 2010. Having experience with a diverse array of fitness
programs, ranging from the P90x and Insanity DVD workouts to Crossfit and even
mixed martial arts, her main purpose is to prove that women are a lot
stronger than they have been led to believe. On practically a daily basis,
Taina encourages women to not be afraid of push ups, pull ups, heavy
weights and any exercise methods widely considered "not for girls."
For her, strong isn't only the new sexy, it also paves the road to
self-confidence and health.
As a business journalist for the past 15 years, Taina
has gained extensive experience researching and writing about economy,
regulatory issues, corporate finance, private equity and mergers and
acquisitions with a focus on the Americas. Her work has appeared in
several widely circulated business publications in the United States. She
was also the recipient of an Overseas Press Club award for her work on Puerto
Rico's healthcare reform. Her resume also includes plenty of translation,
copyediting experience in English and Spanish.
