President John F. Kennedy utilized the concern of the American people over the nascent Soviet domination of space to toss an unprecedented, ten-year, lunar “Hail, Mary.” President Barack Obama, borrowing the bold visualization of Kennedy’s moonshot, and building upon Vice President Joe Biden’s impetus and passion over the premature cancer death of his son Beau, and that of similar sufferers in the nation, finally was able to rouse a recalcitrant Congress to join him and Joe Biden in a far-reaching and humanely noble closing of their administration.

I am a three time relapsed Multiple Myeloma cancer patient. I don’t know any four time relapsed MM patients. MM is the medical terminology for bone marrow cancer. MM cancer begins in plasma cells, a type of white blood cell. These cells are part of your immune system, which helps protect the body from germs and other harmful substances. In time, plasma Myeloma cells collect in the bone marrow and in the solid parts of bone to become plasmacytoma. Plasmacytoma is plasma cell Myeloma as a single lesion or tumor. When the plasma cell Myeloma develops into multiple lesions it becomes Multiple Myeloma. Often MM symptoms go unnoticed, delaying a Myeloma prognosis.

My son was born in the middle of the night, the nurses wrapped him up warmly in a blanket, placed him in the nursery and wheeled me to my room to rest. A couple of hours later a nurse awoke me gently with a little bundle in her arms, "This little fellow really needs his mother. He has been crying non-stop." I took him from her and placed him in the hospital bed with me and he was quiet for the rest of the night. Little did I know how prophetic, "This little fellow needs his mother." would be. While my son is in the Autism Spectrum, he says he is in the "Awe-tism" Spectrum, however, it took us both awhile to get to this point. I did not know when he was born that he was autistic, in fact, I didn't know until he was diagnosed at 20! The reason we found out so late is because he could not pass Alegbra at junior college to be able to move on to a 4 year university. There were some signs but I was ignorant of them. I thought autism was Dustin Hoffman in Rainman and my son was not like that at all. I will start at the beginning and describe how we came to the place we are today, a mother with a 27 year old son who over came many hurdles to be the succcess he is today, looking towards a bright future.

I am a grandmother of five beautiful children (three granddaughters, two grandsons). I love all of them unconditionally and delight in dancing with them, teaching them silly knock-knock jokes and other Grandmama stuff. But because I know there is more truth in, “It’s a man’s world” than there is in, “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world”; I am more concerned about my granddaughters’ futures.

When scientists, after discovering a mixed bag of particles, finally were able to place them in recognizable order, they found one essential part missing. It is the particle that gives mass to every tangible thing in the universe (and maybe the multiverse): The Higgs Boson, sometimes called, "The God Particle," a term despised by Peter Higgs, from whom it derives its name.

Gatorade always wins?
NOT!
JUST ADDING SUGAR TO WATER IS AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ENERGY DRINKS
Wherever you are in the world, it's virtually impossible to avoid the avalanche from a well-designed media campaign urging... no... compelling you to buy and consume as much of various types of energy drinks as possible. It hits you almost subliminally, and certainly explosively, from radio ads, TV spectaculars with extreme sports and monster machines, product placement in movies and TV shows, Internet sites, social networks, billboards, subways, trains, cars, and of course SEX. They titillate you into joining the crowd sweating to the oldies, with one media reinforcing the other. You can't avoid them like you can't avoid Global Warming. Everybody in Lycra skin suits, panting and sweating with those high-tech machines, are guzzling them down like nobody's business.

Modernity is marvelous,
Magnificent to behold.
The future is like magic,
Like the flashing cards of old.
The series of sequenced photographs
That made them seem to move.
The mystery that made us laugh,
That which greatly we would improve.
