Maeldom candidus rex (MCR) had ruled a great portion of Planet Thrae since time immemorial. It had not always been that way, but with the passage of time, MCR was able to attach to his blanched exterior an arbitrarily, high social value of superiority. The genus dom candidus (DC) had evolved upon the planet just as the rest of those of the rex species. These had developed into groups of individuals with varied-hued exteriors.
For eons, all of the MDR exercised an uneven partnership control over the distaff side of their genus. This was not uncommon among the other genera of the species. As a matter of fact, even as much of the planet grudgingly began to share power with the opposite gender, many, even in the current era, yet defend their distaff-submissive ways.
Since the DC genera settled mainly in the colder climes of the planet, they were so consumed with their intramural conflicts of survival, that when they made contact with the darker-hued of the species, in the warmer climes, they marveled at what they could learn about calculation, commerce, artistry and graphic communication. With this new information, they now had models for the creation of great civilizations. As they did, they began to use the seaways to spread these acquired cultures to less-developed areas of the planet. They did so – not in the rexarian way in which they had acquired their own cultures – but in a more, self-serving and domineering fashion.
When a previously unknown part of the planet had been breached, the MCR nations, which had been competing with each other mainly on one continent, spread their competition and dominance to the territories and peoples of the now-breached, new continent. Soon, the new territories were overwhelmed with MDR presence.
For approximately two centuries, a certain patch of the upper portion of the new continent remained relatively undisturbed, with the native genera of earth-tinged features following their regular, quotidian life-style. One day, a sea vessel appeared on the horizon. Soon, those native folk found themselves immersed in the affairs of these strangers of untinged exterior. Before long, their initial apprehensions developed into fear for their very existence. Then, these strangers began to bring to their shores individuals of another genus, but with an exterior of unimaginably deep hue. They noticed the complete dominance by MCR over these new inhabitants. As time passed, MCR took complete control of the new territories.
After time, the transplanted MCRs felt autonomous enough to strike out on their own, sans the annoying influence of their remote, sponsoring regent. Therefrom ensued a victorious conflict and the establishment of a hypocritically exclusive form of government. MCR was the lord and master. The new lands had all been conquered, and the remaining natives confined to the least productive of the lands. The chains had been removed from the bodies – but not the minds of the former chattel. The distaff side finally managed a toehold onto power. MCR did not share power easily with the progeny of his former chattel, his distaff side -- or the other genera of varied hue who succumbed to the false siren-call of the new government.
Finally, an individual with the same strains of genus as the former chattel reaches the pinnacle of power. This is unconscionable to MDR, and he reacts accordingly. Now, almost certain to succeed to that same power, in the fall of the current solar rotation, is a representative of his distaff side. In a panic to forestall the inevitable, MCR has placed in opposition to the proven elective superiority of the distaff member, a representative of what appears to be the very last gasp of the debilitating, assumed superiority so long affected by MCR, who now, finally, must begin to come into accord with those sacred precepts of equality and opportunity so boldly set forth in the founding document that declared his independence from the rule of like-beings.
Thus it is that, as autumn approaches for maeldom candidus, it is not necessarily a fall from grace; rather, it is an opportunity to winter upon the occurrences and spring back into action for a summer of revival of the inherent spirit of the species Rex!
