A definition of Negrophobia: An intense and irrational dislike / fear of Black people, their culture and their success as they strive to achieve their version of the American Dream.

There is a foul and violent storm blowing slowly across the United States of America. It’s not a storm formed by a massive collection of heavily swollen cumulonimbus clouds that are ready to burst and beget thunderstorm after thunderstorm. Instead, it’s a “metaphysical storm” that’s spawned from the cruelest and darkest regions of our mind. Fueled by sociopathic behavior, rage and sometimes hopelessness, this “storm” threatens to corrupt and devour as many sane minds that it possibly can, ultimately leaving behind an unnatural devastation that strongly reeks of dead bodies, a parent’s tears, rage and bitterness.

The chickens have come home to roost

In case you haven’t noticed, the United States of America the self-proclaimed “shining city upon a hill” is on the verge of once again becoming a morally bankrupt nation. Trust me, this isn’t some half-witted, pseudo-intellectual decree made while basking in the “glory” of some fake-ass religious epiphany and neither is it a bunch of superficial political hyperbole that’s intended to inspire political conversions.

You are killing us

Frankly, my declaration that the United States of America is on the verge of once again becoming a morally bankrupt nation comes after decades of making critical observations and after decades of conducting honest soul searching. Although some who read this commentary may try to connect our country’s declining morals to a decline in religious values, I assure the reader that “religious-morals” or the lack of “religious-morals” (with a heavy emphasis on the word “religious”) hasn’t anything to do with the “sinking of the USS America”.

Indeed, much of the pain and suffering that America is currently experiencing has absolutely nothing to do with religion and has everything to do with Tribalism.

The political-social-religious differences we have with our parents, our siblings, our friends, and our associates is rapidly turning the U.S. into a “them vs. us” country. It’s an ugly state of mind that forces a large segment of Americans to search out for others who think just like them, thus creating their own tribal paradigm that reflects what they’ve evolved into. Food for thought.... the United States of America has over 300 million people and at least 100 million are of adult age... so exactly how many tribes are out there living in their own alternate universe, where a bombastic “them vs. us” attitude dominates their mindset?

The stark and uncut reality is that we’re existing in a “shadowy-cerebral-place” where much of our country’s “majority” has silently accepted our country’s unjust and racially prejudiced judicial system as “business as usual”. Riddle me this Batman. “Why can White men legally make a fortune selling tons of marijuana and marijuana products in Washington State, Colorado and Alaska but a Black / Brown man is destined to go straight to jail for selling an ounce of weed in most states? Where is the legal justice? And why shouldn’t Black and Brown Americans be angry?

For the longest time “The System” has endorsed the funneling of Black, Brown and Native American children through a “pipeline” that begins in elementary school and unceremoniously ends in the dark abysses of our nation’s prisons-for-profit; free labor at a minimum cost just like America’s Antebellum “good old days”. The cruel and face-slapping reality is that the more things change the more they remain the same in the good old U.S.A.

Who do you call when cops murder

We live in a country where police killings of unarmed African-Americans and Hispanic / Latin Americans are considered priority number 21 on a list of 20 priorities; so I’m forced to ask, “what ever happened to united we stand and divided we fall”?

Why should anyone of color in the United States pledge an allegiance to a country that still very clearly considers them to be only three-fifths a human being? Note: Make the time to read the Three-Fifths Compromise I promise if you do, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how “things” work for Black folk in America. I repeat, “The cruel and face-slapping reality is that the more things change the more they remain the same in the good old U.S.A.”

Americans.... please wake the EXPLETIVE UP. The gazillionaires who own the gun and ammo industries also own most of our nation’s local, state and national lawmakers.

The gun and ammo gazillionaires have manipulated millions of people into believing that it’s normal to see registered gun owners walk down Main Street U.S.A. carrying a rifle on their shoulder while having a gun laden holster strapped around their waist; I pause for effect.....it’s as though we’ve stepped into an episode of Rod Serling’s “Twilight Zone” and we’re permanently stuck in 1868 Dodge City, Kansas.

American Western folklore tells us that most frontier towns of the mid and late 19th century had its fair share of despised desperadoes who made the local town folk feel compelled to buy weapons for protection and to hire a police force that eradicated the bad guys from their life both legally and on occasion... “by any means necessary”.

It’s no different in the year 2016 where Black and Brown Americans, but particularly Black and Brown men, are considered “desperadoes” in many American communities and because of local town-folk Negrophobia, the local police are given the “green light” to permanently (by any means necessary) eradicate all potential [Black] threats that are real and imagined.

Alton Sterling Philando Castile Sandra Bland Tamir Rice Freddie Gray Mike Brown Walter Scott Eric Garner Laquan McDonald Sean Bell

What do Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, Freddie Gray, Walter Scott and Philando Castile all have in common? (1) They were all Black men who metaphorically had “outlaw targets” painted on their back; (2) they were all murdered by a police officer(s); (3) the local district attorney’s offices that were / are in-charge of prosecuting the accused police officers appear to be professionally dim-witted and (4) as a result of their lack of prosecutorial skills, no one is currently serving “hard-time” in prison for their murder.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction and unfortunately, we live in a country that’s full of people who believe in instant retaliation without giving much thought to the consequences of their actions. And... thanks to all the National Rifle Association’s Grand Poobahs and their friends in Washington, D.C.. every American of “legal standing” has access to semi-automatic weapons and high capacity magazines.

It’s an eye-for-an-eye attitude that threatens to leave us all blind. I have to believe that somewhere in a dimly lit prison cell in Corcoran maximum security prison in California, Charles Manson is devilishly smiling. His apocalyptic Helter-Skelter, “Black vs. White” prediction appears to be set in motion and the gun and ammo gazillionaires and the 2% super-rich who invest heavily in gun sales and the aftereffects of their man-made carnage are making a killing. Pun intended.

Shooting of Charles Kinsey

Just recently a Black behavioral specialist whose name is Charles Kinsley, was recently shot by a North Miami police officer while lying on his back with his arms and hands upwardly outstretched.

Mr. Kinsley who was assisting a distressed autistic man complied with every order given to him by the police officer on the scene and the police officer still shot him. I am compelled by this extreme act of police misconduct to ask “why shouldn’t there be Black outrage in America”? Imagine if the tables were turned and Black police officers were murdering White men without punishment.... can you imagine what the response would be in White America? I can.

We are playing a dangerous “Killing Game” in America and I’m afraid until the current police culture changes, more innocent people will be murdered. When Mr. Kinsley asked the police officer who shot him why he did so the officer replied, “I don’t know”. Really.... he doesn’t know why?

In closing, fixing our nation’s police and community problems isn’t very difficult, but it does require uncommon commitment. In addition to commitment it requires having police men walk their beats and getting to know the people they’re sworn to protect.

Fixing the problems requires more police officers to volunteer as “Big Brothers”, Little League coaches, Pop Warner football coaches and Summer League basketball coaches. I think that most people would agree that it’s harder to kill a man for driving with a broken taillight if you remember him as a kid you once taught how to play second base.

Police try kindness

It’s all about police officers treating Black, Brown and Native Americans with the same respect and understanding that they unconsciously give to people living in mostly White communities. But most importantly it requires good cops weeding out bad cops. If the system condemns the “Boyz in the Hood” for not informing on their “homies” for committing a crime, then shouldn’t good cops be held to the same standard for not turning in bad cops who repeatedly tarnish their sacred fraternity’s image?

Final Food for thought... we can stop “The Killing Game” if only we care / dare to.

Le Fin. (The End)
